Hello Carpinteria!
First off, I want to let you all know that I am in no way, shape, or form a “blogger”. Basically, I write how I talk … and sometimes I don’t think before I talk. So, please be nice for those of you who have a critical eye in the writer’s arena. Thank you, in advance.
Even though I am not a blogger, I find the need to blog because I do need to talk to you all from time to time so I can deliver the latest news and events happening at Empower Fitness! Yes, that means NO MORE TEXT messages from me. I’m sorry and you’re welcome at the same time. It is my goal to write something here everyday- eventually. But lets be realistic- I hope we all can get in the habit of meeting here every Sunday for the latest and greatest Empower Fitness has to offer!
Those of you who don’t know me:
My name is Emlynn Iannelli and I am the owner and founder of Empower Fitness. It is SO SO exciting for me to be opening up my own training facility for the people of Carpinteria. I grew up here and even when I was away I thoroughly enjoyed being back! Who wouldn’t?
I grew up in Carpinteria and went to Carpinteria High School. I played soccer and swam competitively at a high level for my better “younger years” (5years old-22years old).
After high school, I earned a swimming scholarship to Division I- Arizona State University (ASU). I also earned my Undergraduate degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in movement science from ASU.
Upon returning to Carpinteria, I started a Master’s program at Azusa Pacific University and after 2.5 years I earned my Master’s degree in School Counseling and Guidance. It was during my Master’s program that my parents suggested I start doing personal training and building my clientele. Oh, how parents know best! I finished my Master’s degree but continued to pursue a career in Personal Training. During and after graduate school, I trained for local half marathons & triathlons, dabbled and experimented with weight lifting (ie: Back and Bi’s day), Bikram yoga, Pilates, Olympic lifting, and a few intro to gymnastics classes.
For the past 6 years, I have been a personal trainer for a variety of people with specific fitness goals and needs ranging from rehabilitation to training for triathlons and everyone in between. I have also built and facilitated my own small group Bootcamps outside for the past 5 years.
It has always been my goal to open up my own training facility specifically in Carpinteria and I want to provide Carpinteria with quality fitness classes & expert personal trainers with superb instruction.
So, basically, because “mom & dad know best” is why I am here. You can thank them during your next challenging workout with me.
